THE VERMONT COUNCIL OF DEVELOPMENTAL AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES PROMOTES A STATEWIDE, NON-PROFIT SYSTEM OF DEVELOPMENTAL AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE FOR PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES, SERIOUS AND PERSISTANT MENTAL ILLNESS, SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND CHILDREN EXPERIENCING SEVERE EMOTIONAL DISTURBANCE, AS WELL AS THEIR FAMILES. THE COUNCIL, THROUGH ITS MEMBER AGENCIES, WORKS TOWARD ENSURING ACCESS TO A HIGH-QUALITY CONTINUUM OF HEALTH CARE AND SUPPORT SERVICES IN EVERY COMMUNITY THROUGHOUT THE STATE.THE COUNCIL ALSO STRIVES TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF OUR COMMUNITIES THROUGH SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE ALLIANCES AND PARTNERSHIPS, INFORMATION SHARING, EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY AT THE NATIONAL, STATE AND LOCAL LEVELS.
